The “UNBOXED” exhibition by final year TAFE students opens on 1st November at the Culture Hub, Coffs Central Shopping Centre, Harbour Dr, Coffs Harbour. The exhibition features the work of students from Visual Arts, Photography and Furniture Design and will be on display until 18th November.
The official opening will be held on Saturday 6th November from 4:00pm -5:00 pm.
Producing creative work during pandemic lockdowns, fires and floods provided challenges and some unexpected opportunities for the students who are now keen to share their work with the broader community.
“We really did have to think outside the box at times” said Visual Arts student Jaine. ”Many of us, across all the disciplines, had to change direction and find new ways to be creative with limited resources as we continued to develop our body of work. This opened up possibilities we would never have considered. For instance, because I was unable to use the printing press at the TAFE campus during lockdown, the next best thing at my place was an old garden roller. Unconventional, but it did the job!”
Acting Head Teacher Sara Bowen said that she is impressed by the motivation, innovation, and quality of work demonstrated by the students. “This group of students, more than any other, have faced unexpected challenges but have put together an exhibition that will surprise and delight all that come along and see it. Don’t miss it ” she said.
We look forward to seeing you all at UNBOXED!
